The financial sector, which is one of the areas most affected by globalization, is undergoing a significant transformation in line with developments in information technology. This transformation is diversifying the operational processes and tools used in financial markets and institutions. Financial crises experienced worldwide have not only added a new dimension to the financial sector and the real sector but also taken global competition to different levels. All these reasons have increased the need for highly qualified personnel who can accurately analyze the opportunities brought by the diversity and international competition in the financial sector to enhance the competitiveness of countries.
It is important to prefer individuals who are specialized in financial institutions and areas such as banks, insurance companies, and brokerage firms, rather than selecting personnel from non-specialized fields. In this context, the Department of Finance and Banking was established to train individuals who respect human principles, possess the knowledge and qualifications required by their profession, and adhere to professional ethical principles, in order to meet the personnel needs of the sector.
Each student is assigned an academic advisor to increase their academic success, plan and develop their careers. The educational activities of our department consist of 8 semesters. During these semesters, students gain theoretical knowledge related to the banking and finance sector as well as in accounting, marketing, management, and economics. Additionally, there is a 30-day internship program to provide students with practical knowledge and skills.
If our students meet the necessary conditions, they can pursue double major or minor programs and also have the opportunity to continue part of their education at partner universities abroad within the framework of the Erasmus program, thereby broadening their vision.
Graduates who successfully complete the Department of Finance and Banking have the opportunity to be employed primarily in banks, leasing, factoring, forfaiting, and private pension companies, as well as in the accounting and finance departments of companies. Moreover, if they meet the required KPSS score, they can work in A-group positions such as experts and inspectors in the Ministry of Treasury and Finance, the Central Bank, the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency, Borsa Istanbul, and other public institutions in the finance and accounting fields.
Graduates who wish to advance in academia can work as faculty members in the Finance and Banking departments or relevant departments of universities after completing their graduate education and meeting the necessary requirements.
