Head of Department Message

Message from the Head of Department

Dear Students,

The finance and banking sector has evolved beyond being merely an area where money flows are managed; it has become a strategic discipline at the center of digitalization, sustainability, risk management, and global integration. Today, financial decisions directly determine macroeconomic stability, companies’ competitiveness, and individuals’ welfare levels. Therefore, the sector requires qualified professionals who can think analytically, interpret data, maintain strong ethical awareness, and adapt rapidly to change.

As the Department of Finance and Banking, our primary objective is to educate students not only to become a part of the existing system, but also to analyze, question, and when necessary, transform it. Our program supports a strong theoretical foundation with practical applications in areas such as financial markets, banking systems, risk management, investment analysis, financial modeling, and digital finance applications.

The education offered in our department is conducted within a dynamic curriculum that closely follows developments in the sector. Our graduates acquire the knowledge and competencies required to pursue careers in banks, brokerage firms, insurance companies, portfolio management companies, financial technology firms, and finance departments of corporate companies. In addition, students are encouraged to develop awareness in entrepreneurship, financial literacy, and sustainable finance.

Through the scientific expertise of our academic staff, contributions from industry professionals, and compulsory internship opportunities, our students gain the ability to integrate theory and practice with a holistic perspective. Our aim is not only to graduate students with a diploma, but to cultivate professionals who can accurately analyze financial data, anticipate risks, adhere to ethical principles, and think strategically.

Establishing a strong position in the world of finance requires not only technical knowledge, but also discipline, analytical capacity, and a commitment to continuous learning. If you would like to be part of this transformation and shape financial systems beyond merely understanding them, I invite you to join us on this journey in the Department of Finance and Banking.

Sincerely,
Head of Department
Prof. Dr. Egemen İPEK
