Why should I choose the Department of Finance and Banking?
With globalization and technological advancements, the financial sector is experiencing significant change, and the areas of activity of banks and financial institutions are constantly expanding. Turkey, aiming to become a financial center, increasingly needs trained professionals with analytical thinking skills who embrace teamwork. In Turkey, approximately 70% of all financial activities are conducted by the banking sector, while insurance and other financial activities have significant growth potential. The education and training activities in the Department of Finance and Banking consist of 8 semesters. Students gain theoretical knowledge in the finance and banking sectors, as well as in accounting, marketing, management, and economics. With elective courses aimed at personal development, our students can further improve themselves. Additionally, our department has a mandatory 30-day internship requirement.

The main goal of the Department of Finance and Banking is to train graduates who, with the quality education they receive, are knowledgeable in their field, have strong analytical and synthesis abilities, are aware of social responsibility, respect ethical values, can conduct interdisciplinary and global research to provide solutions, are inclined to teamwork, and can serve in national and international fields.

The curriculum of the Finance and Banking Department at Tarsus University is prepared according to the views and needs of internal and external stakeholders. With our dynamic academic staff, we provide interdisciplinary education in the Finance and Banking Department. Is academic advising provided in the department?
Each student is assigned an academic advisor throughout their university life to meet all their counseling needs related to the educational programs and regulations of the department they are enrolled in. The Academic Advisor assigned to each student helps them with all the problems they may encounter during their education and supports them in career planning, helping shape their future.
What are the career opportunities after graduation?
Graduates who successfully complete the Department of Finance and Banking have the opportunity to be employed in banks and insurance companies, as well as in leasing, factoring, forfaiting, and private pension companies, and in the accounting and finance departments of companies as financial analysts, financial advisors, and portfolio managers. Additionally, if they meet the required KPSS score, they can work in A-group positions such as specialists and inspectors in the Ministry of Treasury and Finance, the Central Bank, the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency, Borsa Istanbul, and other public institutions in the finance and accounting fields.
Is an internship required for students in the department to graduate?
A 30-day internship is mandatory before graduation in our department. During the internship, our university provides insurance for our students.
Can department students benefit from summer school?
Summer school can be offered within the academic year. The principles related to education and training in summer school are determined by the Senate. Students can take courses from the summer school of other higher education institutions with the decision of the relevant unit's administrative board, within the framework of the principles determined by the Senate. The transfer of the credit and grades of the taken course(s) is done with the decision of the relevant unit's administrative board. The conversion of grades obtained from other higher education institutions is done according to the principles determined by the Senate.
Can department students benefit from national and international student exchange programs (Farabi, Erasmus, etc.)?
Our students can study for one or two semesters at a partner university abroad through the Erasmus program, or at any higher education institution within Turkey that has an agreement with the department through the Farabi program.
What is the language of instruction in the department?
The language of instruction in our department is Turkish. However, in the first year, Foreign Language-1 in the first semester and Foreign Language-2 in the second semester are included in the curriculum.
What are the exam application principles?
Students take at least one midterm exam and one final exam each semester. However, with the decision of the relevant unit boards, projects, seminars, field studies, quizzes, assignments, internships, laboratories, and similar intra-semester studies can also be conducted. The contribution of the final exam to the letter grade is 60%. In the undergraduate final exam, it is mandatory to score at least 40 out of 100 points.
