Double Major (DMP) Focus Group Conducted

A focus group meeting was conducted by our Department of Finance and Banking to evaluate students’ perspectives on the Double Major Program (DMP).

During the session, students with a GPA of 3.00 and above shared their views on why they had not applied to the Double Major Program, their level of knowledge about the process, their perceptions of academic workload, and their expectations from the program.

Process Visibility

Students indicated a need for clearer guidance regarding application steps and the overall process.

Perceived Academic Workload

Course load, exam scheduling, and attendance requirements were identified as key factors influencing decision-making.

Perceived Benefits

The program is seen as valuable in terms of obtaining a second degree, personal development, and career opportunities.

Findings from the focus group indicate that the DMP process needs to be made more visible, clearer, and more structured from the student perspective.

Planned Improvements by the Department

  • Development of an informative web page explaining the DMP process,
  • Creation of a DMP simulation tool to support course planning and workload visualization,
  • Improving the visibility and accessibility of DMP advisors on the department website,
  • Strengthening student guidance and information activities.

As the Department of Finance and Banking, we consider student feedback as a key component of our decision-making and continuous improvement processes, and we remain committed to enhancing our educational practices based on student input.
